i just love campfires. the sound of the wood crackling, and the smell of the smoke. it always reminds me of being at my grandma & grandpa's trailer 'up north' and they had a fire pit that looked kind of like a washing machine drum...who knows, it could have been knowing how resourceful grandpa was! i have so many good memories of standing there with the long sticks roasting marshmallows. for a VERY special treat, we'd do s'mores. i'd burn them to a crisp-black as tar- and then wait until the chocolate melted. yum! we'd all be sitting around in those woven lawn chairs trying to stay out of the smoke, moving from one adult's lap to another . great memories.
i wonder what our kids will remember.
