this...
because of this...
hi. my name is lori. and we have fruit flies.
we have no idea where they're coming from...we have no fruit, nothing 'wet', no sitting garbage, no food, we've bleached EVERYTHING, yet they won't leave. i know, our kids think it's a country club here but i didn't think they'd tell. they do like red wine vinegar (the flies, not the kids), well, they like to sit on the edge and LOOK at it~definitely playing games with my mind. actually, i'm loosing my mind~probably their main purpose. i've googled and binged how to eliminate these little flying nuisances...has enyone actually TRIED these things? THEY DON'T WORK!!
well, since i started writing this (yes, my blog posts have known to take days...) their numbers are becoming less...probably bored w/the kids at school all day and nothing to do.
ok-we're going out for dinner now.
i'll leave the door open in case they want to leave.
forever.
we'll miss you guys.
maybe NOT!

hey lori!,
ReplyDeletei've got this problem too~b/c of fruit & tomatoes in a bowl on my counter....PAIN!
i know how to kill them(sorry, get RID of them)
you just take your wine vinegar & put it it a small dish covered TIGHTLY with plastic cling wrap, then poke holes(with the end of a sharp knife) in the tight plastic & presto...they get in & can't find their way out & eventually DROWN!! i have such a trap on my counter now with lots of those little critters inside...hee,hee,hee:)!
works for me....give it a try & see!!!!
yep, been there, done that. i've also done red wine vinegar with soap, apple cider vinegar with soap, regular vinegar with soap, soda bottle cut and upside down, the holes in the plastic wrap, and opening the window and trying to blow them out. i do get some, but their friends/siblings are still here...no big family reunion, but a few of them won't leave. i remain silent after that last comment.
ReplyDeleteum, how about SHUTTING the door when you leave???? you do realize they don't have brains, right? however, if you leave the door open they WILL figure out a way to yoddle over to friends and invite them all in. after all, your home is basically the country club. heck ya, if i were a bug, i'd stay too.
ReplyDeleteGotta love your sister, right? I have had a similar problem in the past...and the wine with plastic wrap worked for me...sorry! Maybe my fruit flies were a bit dumber than yours! Good luck!!
ReplyDeleteHi Lori, I've had the same problem and I used a very ripe banana in a bowl with cling wrap and fork holes. It worked great. When you get enough in there... my son Jacob discovered that if you put the bowl in the microwave for a few seconds, you can zap them and start again. Kinda gross, but seems to work. :)
